How to make a quick and tasty batch of hummus in the NutriBullet in under a minute

This recipe for hummus (or hummous), the delicious Middle Eastern dish, could not be less hassle. As long as you’ve got the ingredients in the store cupboard, you can whip up a batch even after your guests have arrived!

The ingredients below are for a portion for about 4-6 people. You can halve them for a smaller batch, and if you do that then the  short cup may be big enough.

Ingredients:

  1. 400g tin of chickpeas in water
  2. Juice of 2 lemons
  3. 2 cloves of garlic
  4. 2 tbsp of tahini (sesame seed paste)
  5. Drizzle of olive oil
  6. Pinch of salt

Method:

  • Take the Tall cup if you’re doing a batch for 4 or more, otherwise a use the Short cup
  • Add in the chickpeas – drain all but a very little of the liquid and only pour in the small amount
  • Add all the other ingredients into the cup
  • Screw on the extractor blade and place on the power base
  • Blend using the ‘pulsing’ technique so that your hummus stays a little chunky – this should take around 30-40 seconds
  • Serve with a sprinkle of paprika and some coriander to garnish. Add a little more olive oil if desired

Hummus is wonderful paired with crudités or some freshly toasted pitta bread. You can also add other ingredients to it – flavoured hummus is very popular right now. Popular combinations include lime and coriander, or red pepper hummus.

If you’re wondering which Nutribullet will work best for this hummus dish, it can be made in any of them, but the Magic Bullet is probably the best as it leaves the coarsest results, which is what you want for this chunky dip.
