Smoothie lovers rejoice! Nutribullet have launched a new member of the blender family, the Nutribullet 1000 Series – just in time to help with those New Year diet resolutions…

The Nutribullet 1000 series is currently available in the UK from John Lewis for the amazing price of £59.95 and also from Amazon for the same price. With Amazon Prime you could receive your machine with free next day delivery.

It sits in between the Nutribullet Pro 900 and the Nutribullet RX in terms of both functionality and price.

As the name suggests, the Nutribullet 1000 Series packs a souped-up motor, with 1000 watts of power.  This gives a powerful cyclonic acion of 25,000 RPM. The even more powerful motor means that your smoothie should be incredibly smooth as it bursts open seeds, cracks stems and sheds tough skins.

As we discuss in our blender vs juicer article, this pulping of the fibrous elements of the ingredients means that you get maximum nutrition from your fruit and vegetables. The more powerful motor also means that it’s easier than the lower models to crush ice.

In addition, the Nutribullet 1000 Series comes with an insulated thermos-style blending cup which is intended to keep the chill on your smoothies if you prepare them in advance.

One thing to be aware of is that the motor is so powerful that it can generate heat that makes your smoothie warm. So it’s a good idea to use frozen fruit or ice in it to make sure that your drink is nice and cool when you’re ready to drink it.

The Nutribullet 1000 ships with two cups – a 930ml BPA-free plastic on-the-go cup and a new style of 820ml insulated stainless steel thermos cup which is claimed to keep drinks cool for up to eight hours. These larger cups allow for bigger portions than the Nutribullet 600 Series. There are also flip-top lids so that you can take your drinks with you as you travel around.

It’s worth bearing in mind that these cups are pretty large, perhaps not as handy as the Nutribullet 600’s short cup for travelling around, but good if you’re feeling hungry or serving a couple of people.

As with the other cups in the series, the two supplied here are top-rack dishwasher safe. The other elements of the blender need to be washed by hand carefully in warm water (although obviously not the power base!)

Just as with the Nutribullet RX, the Nutribullet 1000 is powered by ‘Smart Technology’. This means that it automatically selects the blending speed that best suits the ingredients you are using. It runs through a 45 second auto-cycle and according to the manufacturer it ‘shuts off automatically after optimum extraction.

Some people may find this functionality useful, but others might find it unnecessary and intrusive – so think about your feelings about it if you’re planning a purchase.

It’s worth noticing that unlike the RX, the Nutribullet 1000 Series doesn’t come with the heating element, and it’s not intended as a soup maker like the more powerful model.
